Information for School and College Governors (ISCG)
ISCG logo

ISCG are a non-profit making company whose funding comes from commissioned publications, seminars and training and their own publications. DCSF commissions work from ISCG and supports some of their activities.

The employees are all lay governors with many years' experience in all types of school.  They network widely in order to observe, digest and influence, providing up to date information to governing bodies and their clerks.  They realise that governors can feel very alone when dealing with local authorities (LAs), teachers and unions and that they need a reliable support system that is dedicated to them.  Among other things, their website provides details about their advice and consultancy service, training and seminars, publications and a regular newsletter.

Since their launch in1991, they have proved themselves as a truly independent governor-friendly organisation.

They have close links with:

  • the Educational Law Association (ELAS)
  • DCSF's Advisory Group on Governance (AGOG)
  • the One Stop Shop for Governors
  • other consultative bodies

DCSF also consult with ISCG on teachers' pay and conditions and other initiatives.
