Schools Recruitment Service

The Schools Recruitment Service is an innovative online system provided by the DCSF in partnership with Tribal. The service is designed to improve the process of recruiting all permanent leadership, teaching and support staff, and has been developed in consultation with schools and LAs.

Individual schools can upload job vacancies to their own, branded pages within the system, which can also be used to promote the school as an employer to prospective applicants.

Schools can:

  • book and formulate advertisements,
  • filter, track and respond to applications,
  • track the candidates progress from application right through to appointment.

The service provides schools with accurate intelligence about the market place and the success rate of chosen advertising media; intelligence which can help to inform decisions about where to advertise, identify skill shortages and respond to them.

A national talent pool will soon be available for schools to search, as and when they need to recruit. Jobseekers in this talent pool can be contacted directly and invited to apply for a position.

Benefits of the service

  • The service is an easy-to-use system, with support available from LA super users and online training.
  • The service helps to identify the right candidate and have them in post more quickly.
  • Online advertising saves money and contributes to environmental sustainability targets, by reducing the need for printing and paid advertising.
  • Smarter recruitment campaigns mean schools can track the success of their advertisements, improve targeting of future advertising and minimise the need to re-advertise.
  • The service offers improved intelligence about jobseeker behaviour and attraction.
  • An online recruitment process means schools can communicate and share candidate information with governors, teaching and LA staff.
