Booklet for schools on parenting support

Extended schools: Access to opportunities and services for all, outlined the core support offer for parents and carers. The offer comprises:

  • On-site transition information-sessions for parents of children starting primary school, and moving on to secondary school.
  • On-site information about the advice and support available to parents through local services and national help lines and websites.
  • Access to parenting groups.
  • Access to more specialised support for parents who want and would benefit from it.

A new DfES booklet on parenting support is aimed at schools and provides detailed information about each aspect of:

  • the core parenting support offer
  • important contextual information about local services for parents
  • details of useful sources of information for schools and parents.
