New performance management regulations and guidance

Following a consultation on revised arrangements to teachers� and head teachers� performance management, the Secretary of State for Education and Skills has made The Education (School Teacher Performance Management) (England) Regulations 2006.
A guidance document to support these Regulations has been jointly published by the Rewards and Incentives Group.

The new arrangements, which will support ongoing professional development and help to secure better outcomes for pupils, will be in place by autumn 2007.
