Ashden Awards for sustainable schools
Following the publication of the Sustainable Schools Strategy in May, the DfES is promoting a year of action to embed action to empower young people to lead sustainable lives and take responsibility for their own future. The Ashden Awards for sustainable energy will give schools that are already examples of sustainability an opportunity to showcase their achievements and act as exemplars to other schools.
The Ashden Awards are now calling for entries for 2007 from schools that can prove that the use and promotion of sustainable energy is a central part of their practice and culture.
First prize for the winning school will be 15,000 with a second prize of 5,000. Deadline for entries is 21 November 2006.
