Teaching Climate Change A recent shake-up in the geography curriculum has resulted in climate change being taught in all secondary schools. What is the best way of teaching this diverse and modern subject? David Lambert from the Geographical Association and climate change expert Ed Gillespie from Futerra meet with geography teacher Dave Dixon to discuss the most effective ways of teaching the subject.

Resource Review - Primary Green Resources A theatre troupe called Compost Crusaders is one of the three resources recommended by Kim Jackson, the Environmental Education Officer for Brighton and Hove. This act teaches pupils about the importance of recycling and why it is vital for a sustainable environment.
Resource Review - Secondary Green Resources Expert Dr Maggie Smith, chair of the Geographical Association's Environmental and Sustainable Development Education Working Group, recommends a trip to an environment centre as one way for children to learn about ecology. Other recommendations include taking part in The Poverty Challenge, a simulation game to teach sustainable development, and participation in the Oxfam bRing bRing project.
Unearthing the Pen - The Struggle for Education in Karamoja This programme focuses on the unique struggle for education in Uganda's remote northeast region of Karamoja. The Karimojong elders rejected education 65 years ago by burying a pen, but in 1995 the pen was finally unearthed and a community programme was devised to engage the pastoral society in education. Unearthing the Pen tells the extraordinary story of the development of education in Karamoja, the value of which is now being realised across the region.
