Antarctica Week on Teachers TV

Highlights this week include:

Preparing for Antarctica
Four British teachers prepare for a once-in-a-lifetime expedition to Antarctica. Their preparation includes fundraising and training sessions on Europe's largest ice-cap in Norway.

Surviving in Antarctica
In this programme, the teachers come to terms with living in gruelling conditions of -65 degree temperatures and turn their focus to completing their science projects.

A Future in the Balance
Designed to encourage discussion in citizenship lessons, this pupil programme explores the key political and environmental issues that continue to surround Antarctica.

Science Teachers in the Freezer
Why is the continent of Antarctica perfect for scientific research? Find out as we examine two experiments carried out by the teachers on their expedition to the polar region.

Geography Teachers in the Freezer
Using case studies from both Norway and the South Pole, this pupil programme explores the geology of glaciers and reveals the many challenges of undertaking field work in extreme climates.

Teachers in the Freezer
A group of British teachers embark on a four-week expedition to Antarctica and demonstrate how humans are able to live on the South Pole. What is the climate like, and what does it take to live in the harshest conditions on the planet.

Where Maths Grows on Trees
Find out how one school in Morocco is using a grove of olive trees planted in their school playground to teach students about maths. The project is part of a government initiative to encourage schools to become more involved in their local community and to make use of local resources in their teaching.
