Preparing schools for a sustainable future

Concern about sustainable development, and particularly climate change, is high and set to increase, and a key DCSF aim is for all schools to have fulfilled the Department's 'sustainable school' criteria by 2020.

The DCSF's National Framework for Sustainable Schools details what schools need to do to become sustainable schools, and the newly relaunched Sustainable Schools website contains practical resources and guidance, including the 's3' school self-evaluation tool. For inspiration, the Teaching Awards website features winners of the Award for Sustainable Schools since 2007.
