Common mental health problems: Supporting school staff

School staff members, like anyone else, may experience mental health problems as a result of life events as well as the pressure of work. Such issues can affect both their own health and have an impact on the standard of education in schools. This guidance has been produced to address this issue and improve the support they receive.

The guidance is a collaboration between the DCSF, Teacher Support Network, the Health and Safety Executive and others. It gives up-to-date advice on how governing bodies can best meet their legal requirements regarding this issue. It also includes tailored advice for employers, HR and occupational health staff, as well as other school employees.

Downloaded the guidance or order a copy on TeacherNets Online Publications website. Please implement the advice in the guidance and promote it to other staff in your school community wherever possible.
