In December 2006 the DCSF awarded a contract to the National Governors� Association (NGA) to work in conjunction with the National Coordinators of Governor Services (NGOGS). Their remit was to produce a document to be used to motivate, recruit and support suitably skilled and experienced governors to act in the role of mentor to the Chair of a Governing Body. The resultant documents can be accessed below. This is not a training programme, but a framework to be used as a resource by school governors and those who train and support school governors.
